Nope - refreshing your own page never counted as hits :) The drop in views is deffo down to things like the activity stream not working, the more limited ‘see more’ functionality, the greater number of records (many of them profile pictures which clog up the ‘Browse’ section) and it just generally being more difficult to keep up with things. I used to see practically everything that got uploaded, now I see a tiny percentage…

I think that makes sense?

I’m not so sure. Only because I’ve noticed a drastic drop in my record views, too, BUT, it coincided with the new heart rate thingie. So I just figured that Hitrecord stopped showing views from the same computer / ISP. In other words, it used to be that my view rate would rise like crazy (and heart rate drop like crazy) when I kept refreshing the page to see if I’d had any more hearts. :D (I admit it: I still do that, with sweating palms each time.) But that doesn’t happen anymore, so I think the same amount of single views are happening and they just stopped counting the repeats. (Which is great, because better heartrate, right?) I think that’s how it works. Am I wrong?

If I’m going to be really honest, I think there is generally more disinterest in viewing others’ works. Back when there was a lot of hubbub about what a heart really means, the featured page, interns, and all that bidness, in the back of my mind I kept thinking how viewing others’ work was a big underlying issue. I mean, we all have time constraints, so I think most people look at the recommends page, featured, and the heartbeat page (or whatever it’s called), but rarely do I think we do enough dirty work like milling around and seeing what’s new - giving everything an equal opportunity to get noticed. I don’t know if this makes any sense, but basically I think there are few people who dedicate time to finding new records on the site to work with (usually happens when you’re working on a project.) Other than that, I think most of us (myself included) rely on someone else to do that, therefore you get a high views:high heart::low views:low heart correlation. I’ve noticed a TON of things have 15 or less views, which to me, is kind of sad. 

Just a thought. Sorry if it still didn’t make sense.

Does anyone else feel like their RECords are being seen less now? I’m not talking hearts, but views. I look at some of my stuff and they’ve had very very few views. Whereas before, even if the hearts were low the views were still significant. Maybe it’s just because there’s so many more members…
