While, she may have played it somewhat safe with the singles, many the album cuts are stupendous subversive genius. The fact that she has managed to get what she does to be considered “mainstream” is a hilariously insane achievement. She even got a song with the lyric “fuck her face” to number 1!

Haha I knew you’d hate that :) No I haven’t listened to the album because funny enough when I don’t like what a musician has already put out I don’t tend to want to hear more :P Sure, thus, my opinion is purely a personal one based on limited information, but life is short and if I were to back every personal opinion up with extensive research then I’d never get to pass flippant judgements and life would be terribly dull! :)

I have been impressed by her in interviews and she deffo has talent - I’ve heard her sing and play all stripped back like - but in general, the melodies and production just ain’t up my street. Also, while I think it’s great that she expresses herself fashion wise and all that, a meat dress does not a musical messiah make. It’s easy to be outrageous - it’s never something I’ve really understood as a trait to be admired. Like ‘woo look at me I’m wearing a turd on my head, I’m breaking barriers!’.

I don’t dislike her, there’s lots to like - but I don’t particularly get what all the fuss is about…

In the name of fair play, I will listen to those two songs you suggested and let you know my thoughts. I’ve changed my opinion on musicians before and I’ll do it again no doubt.
